We stayed at Puerta Paraiso for 3 nights, and if we return to Zihuatanejo, we will definitely be staying here again. The staff was attentive, kind, accommodating, and helpful. The food was good, the cocktail list was ample, and the beach accommodations couldn't be beat. The room was also lovely & well kept, with a private balcony and hammock, with a powerful air conditioner that helped when the room got just a bit too hot for sleeping. Overall the resort is quiet and beautiful. If you're looking for some lovely R&R where you're lulled to sleep by the sound of the ocean each night, this is the place for you.

We visited this spot last winter. Our wonderful waiter Chris was so very special, spoke very good English , which we appreciated very much. Very informative about our first visit here and brought the manager to meet us and show us his wonderful place. We returned this year, as this was our special spot. The price has increased by 200peseos, from 500 pesos, which is very understandable , due to food costs. We had a lovely snack and drinks upon arrival, with Chris as our waiter. From there, it all went south. No drink service, and when we ordered dinner, it was disgusting. Food was cold, lousy presentation, waiter was not concerned about our concerns; until we asked for the manager. The manager offered new food or a drink to correct this problem. At this point we said no thank you, just bring us our bill and we will settle. Such a disappointment

Omar and his staff, including Rueben and Jamie, are outstanding. Room number 6 has a great view of the ocean. The room was all we could ask for. The pool is wonderful. But most of all, the food is delicious and well presented. And for my wife's birthday, the cake was spectacular! We will return for sure.

I cannot say enough good things about Puerta Paraiso. I had my 65th birthday there recently and Omar and his team did everything they could to make it spectacular. They accommodated us in every way. My friends were very impressed by the professionalism as well as the food and the ambiance of the location. I think I have converted quite a few people into choosing this place for day trips or perhaps even booking night stays in their beautiful rooms.

We have been to Puerta Paraíso many times for day trips from Zihuatanejo and have found it to be the perfect place to spend the day at the beach. For a birthday celebration, we spent the night, and it was wildly beyond our expectations. The bonfire-lit dinner on the beach was extra special and they treated us like royalty. This is our favorite place to get away during our getaway vacation to Zihuatanejo.

My wife and I traveled here for a day and overnight stay. The food was good but service was quite slow. Omar the manager did his best to make things right. We got checked into our room and found it to be just average, as the ceiling fan over the bed turned too slowly to provide any relief and the air conditioner was a bit over matched by the heat and humidity. Woke up early the next morning and opened the bifold doors to the deck and saw evidence of several mice that had visited our deck table and had likely tried to enter the room as they left their waste at the doorway as well. We had not brought any food into the room nor did we consume any or bring any onto the deck area, just glad they were unable to enter while we were sleeping. No refrigerator for a cold beverage unless you go to the bar. As I said, the view and location was beautiful, just not impressed with service and very disappointed with the room.

We stayed for three nights and it was beautiful! Great service, beautiful place, good food and very peaceful. Close to the airport. Omar was very kind and all of the personnel as well. Will return. It only has 7 rooms so it is never crowded.

Have vivid memories of our Jan 2019 arrival at Puerta Parasio a smiling Omar welcomed us, then walked us through to their outdoor restaurant, and seeing for the first time, and every time after for that matter, the spectacle the place and surrounding area is, and me thinking and then saying out loud, 'I feel like I'm in heaven yet I still feel so alive....'

Fast forward to Jan 2020, booking too late literally meant there was no room at the Inn for us (note to self: book early!), but we did spend an afternoon there, and again, just like the first time, there was the smiling Omar and the beautiful spectacle PP and area is, the same feeling..... and another one, I can breathe again!!!

If you love quiet, peace, solitude, wide open spaces, lack of people (those there are friendly!), delicious food and drinks, and comfortable very clean accommodations, then this is the place for you (as it is for us). Walking through its doors, any worries or cares were swiftly swept away, Omar and his staff took us under their wings, their efforts and the place itself so serene.....it almost felt like our own private place.....magical really...

Yes, there are people that come to visit for the day (as we did this time, but no one else was so we did not disturb anyone!!), but .... the place needs them, how on earth can it continue to offer what it does for what it charges with only 7 rooms??? And really, there's room enough for everyone (except by my poolside chair, thank you!), hammocks and lounge chairs galore spread across its expansive tree lined beach.

And the beach.....is always a challenge of mine wherever we go to walk the whole beach....did not happen here....it is endless!! And it is considerably more comfortable to walk it in the early morning and late afternoon, unless you like doing the mexican hot sand dance - aye yi yi!! And the ocean, so very pretty, while very wavey and potentially dangerous, very sparkly, and when the sun sets, even more beautiful! We didn't venture in it other than to get our feet wet but friends we met there swam in it every day, they being more accustomed to such conditions. So back to the pool we went!

As for the resort, the attention to detail and the level of workmanship (thank you to all those hardworking souls that placed all those stones in the cement) is all very impressive; the gorgeous wood tables and chairs, the rooms themselves, and lovely touches like the lit torches and bonfires at night (sooooo romantic) and breakfast at the respectable time of 9am or later, make it too good to be true. Jan 2019 we ate all (except for one dinner out) our meals there, we were so content to just stay put; there are enough choices and then some to choose from on their (reasonably priced) menu, and if you want something that's not on it, they'll do their best to make it for you too. And the drinks.....delicious.

This is one door we are definitely going to walk through again....with better planning next time too so we can experience this bit of heaven on earth once more :)))

We arrived at Puerta Parasio and were immediately met by the property's manager Omar who introduced us to his staff and explained all of the facilities amenities and services. He showed us to our room which was outstanding and the pool which was amazing! This property is right on Playa Larga and there is miles of beach to explore while you feel like you are the only person there. The property has lots of umbrellas to shield you from the sun and hammocks to lie back, read and watch time slip away. The food and service was exceptional. The property is a 15 minute taxi ride into Zihuatanejo or a 25 minute taxi ride to Barra de Potosi for an afternoon excursion. Omar was very helpful and arranged for any transportation that was required. My wife and I are looking forward to our return visit.

I don't have words to describe how special our time at Puerta Paraiso was.
Osmar and his team were ready to welcome us from the word 'go' and they made us feel very special in this truly Mexican paradise.
With its unbelievably warm water, Playa Larga is great to run in the morning. The water is very clean and the beach pristine.
Puerta Paraiso is a place to switch off from the world and just relax. Just 7 rooms really spacious and cleaned everyday. There are four large wardrobes and eight empty spaces to organise clothes and another things.
The breakfast has an enormous variety of fresh food and kitchen team is a ready to welcoming you for any gastronomy dish.
They were always available to help us for anything.
I could not have found the best place to celebrate my honeymoon !

This was fantastic! The hotel was small but had everything I would have wanted. The rooms were well appointed and comfortable and the setting was idyllic. Truly one of the most beautiful beaches I have encountered and you have it almost to yourselves! The staff are professional and accommodating and the food was great. I will definitely return and would recommend it without reservation.

My wife and I had an amazing weekend at this beautiful place. The place is full of details that makes your stay very special. Hammocks, beach tables, fire pits by the ocean at night, the awesome food and the great service are just a few things I can talk about. Omar the hotel manager is knowledgeable about what to do and who to contact. All is set for a great experience. Then if you add to all this the beautiful natural view outside that completes the dream. Quiet place, only the ocean and the wind is heard. You feel you are all by your self to enjoy it all. Rooms are big and comfortable, good kitchen and bar in the main floor. People always available to help if needed. An amazing experience.

This was our second trip to the west coast of Mexico and it was just as good as the first, although 400 miles further south. This very small resort is really the perfect place to relax and unwind.
A very quick trip from the airport. The hospitality was superb from all the staff from the manager to the cleaning staff. 'Rudy' always had a smile on his face and took care of any request during the day and Tomas did the same in the evening.
I had no trouble using the wifi anywhere I went on the property. The food was excellent with a special available every night and breakfast was service started at the civilized hour of 9 AM. The seared tuna I had was probably the best I have ever eaten. Without requesting it we were given the same table every night right by the beach and the small bonfire.
As others have noted the pool is a work of art with a perfect temperature and never crowded.
The ocean is ever present with pounding surf but it did not feel at all unsafe. The water temperature was in the low to mid 80's. One caveat, the beach though the sand is white, gets extremely hot away from the water, wear your sandals! The nearly deserted beach stretches for miles to the south.
We would definitely stay there again. If I had to say anything at all negative of about the place it would be that it would be nice to have a mini-fridge in the rooms.

Second floor, room #7 overlooking pool and ocean. Very private.

Pros:

  • great food by chef Louis, especially nightly seafood dishes. Breakfast and lunch menus large and good. Reasonably priced.
  • staff is great, especially Rudy, Thomas and Manuel. Manager Omar very helpful and personable. Omar even installed a new safe in our room when we questioned the old one.
  • awesome long, clean Playa Larga beach with perfect sand.
  • quiet resort with nice landscaping and very nice pool.
  • large clean room, with large balcony, good bed. Rain shower good with hot water, albeit a little dark.
  • great access to town (20 minutes by taxi). Taxi service through hotel is safe and cheap - drivers Delfina and Jr.

Cons:

  • Far from town for daily travel - 20 minutes.
  • day visitors come daily to use pool, restaurant and beach. However, these visitors were courteous and respectful to our use of pool.
  • service staff seemed to wait on day visitors frequently while sometimes not asking for our drink/food orders as much. Seems they were asked to be sure to get orders from day visitors.
  • cost - we were a little surprised at cost of room. We had booked 6 months earlier and didn’t realize cost we had was comparatively higher than what others at resort were paying at same time. We did go over Christmas and realize this was part of it. This was our fault.

Notes: Christmas piñata market in Zihua was great. Had lunch at Selena Gorda in town - great fish pibil tacos, great romantic dinner at Il Mare in La Ropa beach area. Also, we were fortunate to share the resort with another family of 10 who were great to be around, which made the vacation even better. Tim and Terie

The hotel is truly amazing with breathtaking views & immaculate kept grounds! Omar, Rudi and the rest of the staff made our stay unforgettable. We travelled as a group and were attended to every step of the way. Our rooms were impeccable & allowed for the natural wonders of the nature to engage. This little piece of paradise is a nice break away from the masses! We will be back!
